This weekend, the rowing world splits in two. In Sarasota, hundreds of junior athletes descend on Nathan Benderson Park for the USRowing Youth National Championships, four days of racing that will crown the fastest youth crews in America. Across the Atlantic, World Rowing Cup II gets underway in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, where senior internationals pick up where Seville left off, and the road to the World Rowing Championships takes another turn.

Nearly 900 athletes from over 200 programmes have made the trip to Nathan Benderson Park to race for national titles. The U16, U17 and U19 fields are stacked, and the heat of a Florida June adds its own element to the racing.

The senior international season resumes on the Plovdiv course, with World Rowing Championships selection sharpening minds across the board. After a strong Seville opener, GB's men's four and Lauren Henry arrive as ones to watch.

The 193rd edition of England's second-oldest regatta takes to the River Wear this weekend. Known as the Henley of the North, Durham draws clubs from across the UK for two days of side-by-side racing through the heart of the city.

The 14th edition of the Raceroei Regatta brings the Dutch competitive rowing scene to the Willem-Alexander Baan, which doubles as the NK Groot (national large-boat championships). With eight lanes and full racing days, it's one of the biggest domestic fixtures on the Dutch calendar.

A volunteer-led London junior club that trains six days a week, travels an hour each way to water, and recently took gold at the WinTech Junior Sculling Head. Brentford's story is about what happens when commitment fills the gaps that resources can't.

At six years old, Preston Curtis contracted a neurological condition that left him unable to walk, talk, or recognise his family. Now 19 and rowing at the University of Victoria, he can't retain memories longer than two weeks. He turns up anyway.

Robbie Tenenbaum with Robbie Consulting assists athletes and parents in navigating US university recruiting. He previously spent over 30 years coaching at top NCAA programs and a decade with the US Junior National Team.

He has recruited athletes from over 25 countries and maintains an outstanding reputation amongst recruiters at top US institutions.
